Hailing from St Louis, Missouri, Rezzy Carter's avant-garde, versatile and deeply reflective strain of Rap music is not one to be taken lightly. Now more determined than ever to cement his name in the scene, his determination, self-belief, and love for music look certain to do exactly that.
Growing up in an area rife with crime, this upbringing undoubtedly shaped the style of his music. Although Rap is predominantly his genre, his sound pivots around a more specific strain called #STLJuggMuzik, which offers an even more idiosyncratic sound and unorthodox flow. Heavily influenced by Lil Wayne, Rezzy Carter's combination of metaphors and versatile flow act as the foundations to his motivating and unapologetically raw sound, offering an insight into the highs and lows of his life.
Evoking emotions of pain, struggle, excitement, and gratefulness are centric to his sound, with themes of braggadocious talk, coming from nothing, survival, and thriving running deep through his back catalog of productions. Rezzy's thought-provoking lyricism effortlessly creates a unique form of rhythm and poetry, clearly painting a picture that listeners can listen to, absorb, and appreciate.
Having been making music for more than ten years now, Carter continues to take his artform to new heights. After being initiated into Rap music and culture through his cousins in his teens, he began to make trips to the studio and immerse himself into the STL music scene.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Rezzy tragically lost his brother MG. The loss was extremely heavy, and although Carter continued to write lyrics, his venture into the music scene slowed significantly. As time passed, Rezzy began to realize that MG would've wanted him to carry on, so with that thought, he discovered a new-found drive that has elevated him to the heights that Rezzy Carter has risen to today.
By working with an array of incredible producers from St Louis, as well as collaborating with artists such as Erk Escobar, Lil Tay of 3problems, and A51, Rezzy Carter has begun to garner a formidable reputation within the Rap scene. The release of his latest 12-track project, 'Late Nights II" (Long Live MG)', encapsulates the eclectic and high-energy style that Rezzy Carter is pushing, while offering a snapshot into Rezzy Carter's talents. Expect plenty more to come from one of St Louis' most notable rising stars.
